Nebo Loop

My wife and I took a drive around the Nebo Loop today as we listened to General Conference. Here is one of the photos I took. It was a great day for photos. The colors have turned. There were lots of interesting clouds floating overhead. And I didn't have to drive. :)

First Fall Snow of 2007

My wife and I went for a drive up Provo canyon today (Sep 29). We drove the "Alpine Loop" which connects Provo canyon and American Fork canyon. It was a very nice drive with all the leaves changing colors. It started to snow part of the way up the Provo canyon side. By the time we reached the summit, the snow was coming down pretty hard. I jumped out of the car to take this photo.

Memorial Day

This photo was taken on Saturday, May 27, 2007 at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. This section of the cemetery is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the service of this country. A local construction contractor is donating the materals and labor to restore the head stones. The head stones in the foreground have already been restored. They have been set in a new concrete base.

Back Yard Sunset

I took this photo in my back yard. It had been raining most of the day, and just before sunset, the sun peaked through the clouds and lit up mount Timpanogos.

I used Photoshop to take out the power lines.

Golden Clouds

What is in those clouds? Honey, butterscotch, maple syrup maybe? Maybe they are heavy with manna. That was golden colored wasn't it?

Maybe I just used Photoshop to adjust the color. You never can tell.

Rockhounding Tools

My wife and I drove out to the southwestern corner of Utah to look for Trilobites. We were looking at an established dig so we were sure to find some. The owner of the dig had a large hoe that he used to dig the trilobite rich layers of rock out of the ground and spread the rock around so we could easily dig through it.

We had a great time. The photo was taken after I had been pounding on rocks for a while and dropped all my tools to take a break.

Chile Caliente

Here is a picture of a pepper that is in the process of turning red. As you may have guessed, I have a pepper plant. This was also taken at my office. It produces small bright red peppers about as big around as my little finger. I say my little finger because your little finger maybe much larger or smaller than mine :p

The Flowering Spider Plant

My wife gave me a spider plant for my office a few months ago. I have never had a spider plant before that I can remember. I really like watching it grow. It has already produced 3 plantlets. The photo shows one of the plantlets, a flower, and a seed pod. If this flower is pollinated, it will produce a seed pod too. The leaves in the background are from a plastic tree. The shoot that the plantlet is on is about 20" long, and seems to like "leaning" on the plastic tree.

I Like Fluffy Clouds

I took this photo at the place where I work. I looked out my windows and thought that the clouds looked cool. So I stepped out the front door a took a couple of photos. I darkened the blue of the sky a little. Can you see any images or shapes in the clouds? Maybe it's just late, but it looks like Mickey Mouse is in there. :)

Escalante

This photo was taken in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. The monument is huge. It would probably take more than a day just to drive on all the paved roads that wander through out the monument. The streaks on the rock face are mineral deposts left as water has run down the rock over time.

Anasazi

This photo was taken inside a replica of an Anasazi shelter at the Anisazi State Park museum in Bolder, Utah. They must have been a short people as the roof is only about 5 feet hight.

Up The Hill

On the same sledding trip as the last picture. You must hike up the hill before you can slide down it.

My Color-Coordinated Wife

Our family went sledding at a local elementary school the other day. My Wife was taking a break on the swings. We had fun even though it was a very cold day.

Sunset at Bear Lake

On the beach at Bear Lake. Packing up and heading back to camp. Our family spent some time together here last summer. We all had a great time swimming, boating, and singing songs around the camp fire.

Back of Mount Timpanogos

This photo was taken at one of the cabins that the Sundance resort rents out. My wife and I had a good time with my brothers and their wives staying up late playing games and eating snacks.

Utah DOT Typo

This sign is on a freeway near Vernon, UT. The historical "Marker" is to mark the spot where my great, great grandfather built an underground general store many years ago. The store burned down. So now all that is left is a hole in the ground, the marker, and this sign :)
